About
The light of stained glass, for today’s icons.
I'm Antoine Avronsart, a glass artist and designer based near Paris. LC2H, short for La Chapelle du Hip-Hop, is the name under which I create stained glass and graphic works with a resolutely contemporary edge, fuelled by hip-hop, pop art and street art.
My playground is the visual culture of the 90s: sitcoms in saturated colours, album covers, sneakers turned into cult objects. I take these icons and give them what stained glass once kept for saints: light.
A UX-UI designer for 15 years, I also design interfaces and design systems for large organisations. My job: turning complexity into clear, intuitive, readable experiences. Stained glass carries on that quest with other tools, and light instead of pixels.
After all, stained glass was one of the very first user interfaces: it told stories to people who couldn't read.

My approach
Light.
You don't look at glass, you look through it. Each piece shifts with the day, the season, the room it lives in.
The side step.
A centuries-old craft serving a culture that never saw it coming. The work lives in that gap.
The gaze.
Celebrity, brands, consumption: by making these images sacred, my work questions our relationship with them. Tribute or irony? The viewer decides.
Colour.
Bold flat shapes and a 90s palette: unapologetic, joyful, loud.
From drawing to stained glass

The sketch
It all starts by hand, on paper or on an iPad: the icon, then the composition around it.

The cartoon
The final drawing becomes the template: every piece numbered, every colour chosen.

The cut
The glass is cut piece by piece, fitted, then set in lead.

The light
The window finally meets the light, and the icon changes status.
